Modern Romance and Disco Balls: A High-Vibe Greenhouse No. 7 Wedding in Milwaukee

If you want to throw a massive, unforgettable party in a space that completely stops people in their tracks, you look at modern, glass-filled industrial architecture. Taylor and Colton spent two years working with us to build their dream wedding weekend from scratch, and let me tell you, every single second of the planning was worth it.

From day one, their priorities were locked in: top-tier florals, incredible photography, and unmatched food. Once we knocked those three core categories out of the park, we filled out the rest of their dream vendor lineup—bringing in a content creator and booking a powerhouse live band (Spicy Tie Band) to guarantee the dance floor stayed packed all night long.

Late-Night Indian Food and Post Office Runs

When you work with a couple for two full years, the dynamic naturally shifts from a professional partnership into a true friendship. We spent months in a mix of virtual and in-person meetings, but some of the best memories happened entirely behind the scenes.

I was there to answer the late-night texts, navigate some of Colton’s hilariously wild ideas, and spend evenings eating late-night Indian food on the floor while hand-assembling their custom invitation suites. I even loaded up my car to take their invitations to the post office myself because protecting my couples' peace of mind is my top priority.

We expanded their wedding package to include the design and execution of their rehearsal dinner and welcome party at another iconic Milwaukee venue, The Starling. By the time Friday arrived, their guests were treated to a seamless, comprehensive, and incredibly curated weekend experience.

Morning Prep, a Cute First Look, and Iconic Milwaukee Backdrops

When the wedding morning arrived, the energy was high across two of the city's coolest hotel spots. Taylor and her girls spent the morning getting ready at the historic Knickerbocker on the Lake, utilizing a gorgeous, light-filled space that made for stunning detail shots. Meanwhile, Colton and the guys hung out over at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel in the Third Ward.

Once everyone was dressed and ready, it was time for off-site portraits. The couple shared the sweetest, most emotional first look before heading over to the Milwaukee Art Museum area. The clean lines and bright architecture near the lakefront provided the ultimate sleek backdrop for their wedding party photos, and everything came together absolutely swimmingly.

A Seamless Transition: From the Domes to the 360 Bar

From portraits, it was time to head to the main event. As guests arrived for the ceremony, they were greeted by a fun, refreshing "welcome sipper" drink station. While the guests moved over to enjoy the stunning Mitchell Park Domes for cocktail hour, my team sprang into action—flipping that exact beverage welcome station into a flawless, styled escort card display for the reception.

A major focus of our design strategy was intentional sustainability and maximizing the budget. We seamlessly transitioned the massive ceremony draping and floral arrangements over to the reception tables to serve as centerpieces. The gorgeous ceremony ground florals were carefully relocated to frame the front of the band stage, keeping the aesthetic cohesive from the first kiss to the final song.

The single logistical hurdle of the entire day? Hand-pulling the plastic battery tabs and assembling hundreds of glowing foam dance floor props before the music started. It’s tedious, but we handle the small stuff so you don't have to!

Greenery, Florals, and Hanging Disco Balls

The reception inside the glass structure was an absolute visual masterpiece. Guests were raving the entire night about the architecture and the styling. Between the statement 360-degree bar, the lush greenery, the custom floral installations, and a sea of reflective disco balls hanging directly over the dance floor, the entire room glowed.

While I am always a little sad when a two-year planning journey comes to an end, this project turned into a lifelong connection. Taylor and I (along with our husbands!) still get together regularly for dinners, catch up over coffee, and text constantly.

Taylor and Colton, thank you for letting me run the show for your incredible weekend. Cheers to a lifetime of big parties!
