Let’s be honest: your dog is family. And when it comes to your wedding day, deciding how (or if) to include your pup is a big decision. As wedding planners who have seen it all—from dogs as ring bearers to pups chilling at home with a sitter—we’re breaking down your options so you can make a plan that fits your vibe and keeps your furry best friend safe and stress-free.

Option 1: Include Your Dog in the Wedding Day Festivities

If your dog is well-trained, social, and used to crowds, having them be part of the wedding can be so special. We've had dogs walk down the aisle, hang out for photos, or even just make a brief but adorable appearance.

Ideas for Including Your Dog:

  • Ring bearer or flower pup

  • Escort down the aisle with a bridesmaid or groomsman

  • Photos with the couple before or after the ceremony

  • Guest greeter (think tail wags and happy vibes!)

💡 Pro Tip: Have a dedicated dog handler! This should be someone who isn’t a guest. We’ve worked with local pet sitters or dog chaperones who make sure your pup is walked, hydrated, and leaves when their job is done. Ask us about our pet coordination add-on!

Option 2: Keep Your Dog Nearby, But Offsite

If your dog isn’t a fan of crowds or long days, that’s okay! You can still keep them close without involving them in the chaos. Think:

  • Stay at a nearby Airbnb with a trusted sitter

  • Bring them in for a private moment and quick photos

  • Have them greet you post-ceremony for a decompress-and-snuggle session

We’ve helped couples plan this exact thing—schedule-wise, it's simple when you have a good coordinator (hey, that’s us 👋). ask about our pet-friendly planning support, one of our members can check on your fur-baby to give you a peace of mind.

Option 3: Let Them Be Safe at Home

There is zero guilt in choosing to keep your dog at home during your wedding day. Your priority is having a smooth, love-filled celebration, and your pup will love you just the same.

If you're out of town, hire a trusted sitter or board them somewhere familiar. Bonus: you can incorporate them in other ways (see below).

Ways to Include Your Pup Without Them Being There:

  • Custom cocktail napkins or signature drinks named after them

  • A wax seal or monogram with their paw print

  • A charm with their photo on your bouquet

  • A photo table featuring your love story—pup included!
