Milwaukee is one of my favorite cities for a wedding weekend because there's something for everyone. Whether your guests love great food, architecture, breweries or simply walking by the lake, they won't have a hard time filling an afternoon.

If your guests arrive early Friday morning, encourage them to start their day at Colectivo Coffee's Lakefront Café before walking the shoreline. It's one of those places that immediately feels like Milwaukee.
Explore the Historic Third Ward
The Historic Third Ward is full of locally owned boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and the Milwaukee Public Market. It's an easy area to wander without needing a strict plan.
Visit the Milwaukee Art Museum
Even if your guests aren't museum people, the Milwaukee Art Museum is worth visiting for its incredible architecture and beautiful lakefront views.
Catch a Brewers Game
If your wedding falls during baseball season, a trip to American Family Field can be a fun outing for family or friends who arrive a day early.
Spend the Evening in Walker's Point
Walker's Point has become one of Milwaukee's best neighborhoods for cocktails, breweries, and dinner. It's lively without feeling overwhelming and gives guests another side of the city to experience.
Planning a Madison Wisconsin Wedding Weekend
Madison has a completely different feel, and that's exactly why people love getting married here. It's walkable, relaxed, and naturally encourages people to slow down and enjoy themselves, which makes it a perfect backdrop for a wedding weekend.
Here are a few places I always recommend:
Walk Around Capitol Square
Encourage guests to explore the Wisconsin State Capitol before grabbing lunch or shopping around the square.
Visit the Dane County Farmers' Market
If your wedding falls on a Saturday, the Dane County Farmers' Market is one of the best ways to experience Madison like a local.
Relax at Memorial Union Terrace
Whether your guests grab a beer, ice cream or just sit by the water, the Memorial Union Terrace is one of my favorite places to recommend.
Stroll Down State Street
State Street connects the Capitol to the University of Wisconsin campus and is lined with restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and local businesses. It's perfect if guests have a few hours before getting ready.
Rent a Kayak or Paddle board
Madison's lakes are one of its greatest assets. If guests have extra time, getting out on the water is a fun way to spend an afternoon before the festivities begin.
Keep Your Wedding Simple
One misconception I see is that a wedding weekend needs to include:
Welcome party
Rehearsal dinner
Wedding
After party
Farewell brunch
Could it? Absolutely. Does it have to? Not at all.
Some of my favorite wedding weekends look like this:
Friday: Casual brewery meet-up after the rehearsal dinner where people can stop by whenever they arrive.
Saturday: Wedding day.
Sunday: Coffee, pastries, hugs, and everyone heads home.
Simple doesn't mean less meaningful. In fact, keeping things simple usually means you have more time to actually talk to the people who traveled to celebrate with you.
Not Everyone Has To Attend Every Event
This is something I wish more couples gave themselves permission to embrace.
Maybe your grandparents decide to skip the welcome party because they're tired from traveling. Maybe your college friends have an early flight Sunday morning and can't make brunch.

Leave Room For The Moments You Can't Schedule
If I could leave you with one piece of advice, it'd be this:
Don't overfill your weekend. Leave space to have breakfast together, sit with your grandparents a little longer, catch up with old friends, take a walk after dinner, watch everyone laughing from across the room.
